The Cré-Witch Chronicles

Magic, mystery, suspense and romance.

The Cré-Witch Chronicles are Sarah’s first foray into her second literature love, fantasy. Also still evolving this series starts with an historical prequel and then jumps forward in time for the first book in the series. using Druidic mythology as their base, these books are The Witches of Eastwick meets Harry Potter (for grown ups) with a swing past Terry Pratchett (RIP to a great writer), and follow an endangered coven’s race to save magic from an evil witch determined to ascend to Goddess. There’s lots of humor, plenty of magic, and a good helping of romance. If you could get your hands on a piece of Lembas bread and some ale, that would do you with this series.

Contemporary Romance

Small Town Contemporary Romance

Sarah has three series in a small town setting. Contemporary romance is defined by the Romance Writer’s of America as: Romance novels that are set from 1950 to the present that focus primarily on the romantic relationship.

Set in fictional small towns across North America, Sarah’s small town contemporary romances are character driven, combining elements of real life and real world problems with unapologetic romance and held together with heart and humor.

The Willow Park Romances are set in fictional Willow Park, a small town north of Chicago. The complete series of three books follow the lives and loves with the three Hunter brothers (Richard, Josh and Thomas). Even though the premise hangs on the brothers, these books are all about the women. They tackle some serious women’s issues and are probably the angstiest of all her books (So far! Sarah can never tell when the angst will strike again). They are tempered with humor, but Sarah rates these books as a robust glass of red wine in front of a fire sort of books.

The Ghost Falls romances are set in the town of Ghost Falls, again fictional, which sits on the Colorado/Utah border. The most critically acclaimed of Sarah’s series to date, Ghost Falls is still evolving and growing. At this stage, Sarah is still writing books in the series. The series is all about the feels, and the town is filled with larger than life characters. Mostly it deals with the five Evans siblings and their journey to love, but as the series grows, Sarah pulls in more and more characters connected to the family. These are beach reads, so order that Pina Colada, but you might want to ask the waiter to bring the tissues as well.

The next small town contemporary romance series Sarah wrote is called The Passing Through series. The series names comes from the idea of a small town which is trying to grow itself. People pass through Twin Elks, Colorado, and end up staying. This series is still growing and Sarah doesn’t envision an end date yet. Each book can be read stand alone, however following  characters from one book to another will only enrich your enjoyment. These are romances, but swing a bit closer to women’s fiction, because it’s all about the girls. Sarah recommends a chilled prosecco, some good cheese, olives and a loaf of fresh bread to enjoy these with.

Sports Hockey Romance

The Ottawa Titans series is the most recent contemporary series Sarah has written, and is still in its infancy. Having proved really popular, this series will certainly be growing. With a lightness of touch, a lot of humor and a bend toward chick lit, this series was born from Sarah’s passion for all things hockey. Crack a cold craft beer, grab a burger and fries and settle in for this series.

Historical Romance

Medieval Romance

A lover of historical romance, Sarah set out to write Regency romance and ended up in Medieval romance instead. Bear in mind, you are dealing with a writer who blames her genre hopping on a short attention span.

Sarah’s first published novel, The Bride Gift, is a standalone medieval romance. Set in 1153 this marriage of convenience story starts with a Rapunzel vibe as Guy of Helston climbs the castle walls to get to his promised bride.

Sir Arthur’s Legacy is a complete medieval series, set in the early 1200s, and tells the stories of the five children of Sir Arthur of Anglesea. The first in the series, Sweet Bea, was Sarah’s second published novel. In this series Sarah takes real issues that effect humans regardless of time period—loving the wrong person, not loving yourself enough, trying to please others, feeling inadequate and not good enough—and puts them in a medieval setting. She describes the series as hot chocolate on a snowy day sort of read.

Sarah really is a sucker for the medieval period, and admits to an abiding fascination with castles. Just when she decides she won’t venture into medieval again, another idea comes to her and another series is conceived: the Love & War series. The Marriage Parley is the prequel and the rest of the series deals with the children of the couple from the prequel. These are lighter than Sir Arthur’s Legacy, more fast-paced and more of a romp. Tea and biscuits will see you through this series.

Western Historical Romance

The Soiled Doves series came about after hours of watching Gunsmoke reruns and Sarah being outraged that Miss Kitty never got her man. If, like Sarah, you kept rooting for Miss Kitty, this series is perfect for you. Set in Colorado and post civil war, this series pays homage to those brave gals who defined themselves their way, leveraged what they had, and were part of how the west was won. What else could pair with these other than shot of bourbon and a plate of beans.
