A great book always has a great beginning.

There’s a free copy of  Brynna's Earth Enchanted for the first person to get which classic book has the following Great Beginning in the comments section below:

Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive, and for a while I could not enter for the way was barred to me. There was a padlock and a chain upon the gate. I called in my dream to the lodge-keeper, and had no answer, and peering closer through the rusted spokes of the gate I saw that the lodge was uninhabited
Here's you visual clue of the movie of the same name as the book.

3. How did the idea for your Earth Enchanted come about?

Years ago, I had the strangest dream. I must have been deeply sleeping because I could smell the heat of lightning on the rain-kissed air. Feel the wet grass under my bare feet. I was running to something but to what I didn’t know.  I heard the heavy footsteps of someone behind me, chasing me. I seemed to run forever, then suddenly broke into a clearing at the top of a hill, overlooking the sea. There stood a circle of standing stones and a woman in a long blue sheath cinched in at the waist. Her hair was long, dark and curly. The wind and rain whipped wildly around her. She looked straight through me with eyes the color of storm clouds at him, the man who had been chasing me.

He looked like hell spawn, beautiful, tempting and deadly; moved with the grace of a jungle cat. Neither man nor woman acknowledged I was there, a spectator to the scene. She remained in the circle, while he seemed unable to cross into it. Speaking strange and beautiful words, the pair hurled magic at one other, both trying to win ground. And as she relented and dropped the shields surrounding the dance, he stepped inside the dance and I woke up.

3.   Tell us how your journey in publishing began?

After I finished Earth Enchanted, I submitted to Harlequin Intrigue and was rejected. After some tears, it became my mission to see the book published, so I worked harder, learned everything I could from any one who would answer questions. I judged writing contests and got started reviewing books.

4.     Give us the opening lines of your RITA acceptance speech. (Don’t leave me hanging here, haven’t we all had that fantasy?)

Ah, thank you for this award. I’m terrible at speeches.

5.    And now give us that Great Beginning:

Brynna chose the beginning of Sea's Sorceress, the fourth book in the series.

Cursing, Daemon watched his beloved step through the ring of standing stones. She would be stronger here, more so than her twin Arianne or even himself. It was a wise move and certainly a frustrating one. Because of what he was, he would not be able to break her circle and enter the dance unless she allowed him passage. And in her current state of mind, such a gesture was unlikely. Pigheaded woman. A smile curved his mouth at the challenge she presented. He tamped down the urge to release the demon. Not yet, and never against Brie, but Arianne? Definitely. He had to keep the dark hidden for a little while longer.

“Briella, love.”

At the sound of her name on his lips, she turned to him. Long black hair whipped in wild wet ropes around her face with the force of the storm. She was tall, slim like a fairy, her beauty unmatched, but her gentle nature and kindness was balm to his tortured soul. Where would he be, what would he have become without her? Never would he have betrayed her, if only she could see that truth.
