And we're blog hopping our way through Tuesday.
We're talking BEGINNINGS here today. I asked my fellow hoppers to share a favorite beginning they've read and then give you one they wrote.
If you missed out on hearing what the incredibly talented, and all round wonderful Xio Axelrod had to say, you should hop back and give it a read. I am secretly hoping she gave you the opening to The Calum, her new release—it's a beauty!
I probably spend more time on the beginning paragraph of my books than any other lines. It's important, it's that opening that sets the mood, draws the reader in and makes them want to read on. I love it when I read a great opener, it gives me that great 'Oh, boy, this is going to be fun' moment.
Here's one of my favorites from Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right.
I love, love, love that opening. Immediately I have a feel for the character and I'm asking WTF, and for damn sure going to keep reading.
And here's mine, the opening lines to Nobody's Angel, releasing on March 31st.
I'm sandwiched between two of my best girls today. Next up in Jo Richardson, who has a way with an opening that cannot be denied.
